Background
At 17, Emily (name changed) was living in a home environment marked by abuse and fear. Each time she reported her experiences, pressure from others forced her to withdraw. This left her unheard, unprotected, and feeling increasingly unsafe.
Crisis Point
Emily’s mental health reached a critical point, and she turned to LilyAnne’s Wellbeing for help. She arrived in serious distress and at immediate risk, struggling to trust professionals around her. Despite this, she placed her confidence in LilyAnne’s staff, who became the bridge between her and emergency services.
Multi-Agency Safeguarding Response
Because of LilyAnne’s intervention and advocacy:
Emergency services were able to provide urgent medical care, with our team supporting Emily throughout.
Safeguarding teams in health, social care, and policing took her disclosures seriously and worked together to protect her.
Coordinated action across multiple agencies ensured her younger siblings were safeguarded.
The individuals responsible for the abuse and online coercion were investigated and brought to justice.
Outcome
Emily is now safe and no longer carrying the burden of protecting her siblings alone. With counselling and wrap-around support, she has:
Begun to process and heal from her trauma.
Reconnected with a sense of stability and hope for the future.
Built trust in services that now respond with care and seriousness.
Reflection
What kept Emily going during her darkest days was her determination to protect her younger brothers and sisters. Thanks to her courage — and the collaboration of multiple agencies working alongside LilyAnne’s Wellbeing — Emily and her siblings are safe, and she is now moving forward in a more positive chapter of her life.
“For the first time, I was believed. I don’t feel invisible anymore.” — Emily
