Professor Brian Footitt, a former Director at Hartlepool and North Tees Hospital, brings extensive expertise as a Mental Health Professor and former hospice chair, drawing on a distinguished career that includes serving as Director of Nursing Development at South Tees Hospitals NHS Trust and Visiting Professor at the University of Teesside, and his commitment to peer to peer support is strengthened by his passion for helping people facing mental health challenges and loneliness as well as his unique experience in end of life care, including several months working alongside Hollywood actor Robin Williams, whose portrayal in Patch Adams was inspired in part by shadowing Brian while wearing clown shoes and a red nose to bring joy and comfort to patients in their final days.
